Mini Mountains

I love to collect little things. My shelves are full of them, wee animals, flowers, sculptures and tiny ceramic houses… lots of them. So, when I started a new role in a pottery studio I began to experiment with my own collection of tiny things.

My mini mountains were born.

I love the hills, hiking them, painting them and so I thought why not sculpt them too. These wee mountains were my passion project at the end of 2024 and I got carried away creating over 100 unique, individually sculpted and painted mountains!

There is nothing more exciting than collecting your ceramics after their final glaze firing, the anticipation and excitement of how they will turn out. Some better than others but these were such a hit with so many people who love the mountains just as much as me, which was a gift in itself.

I experimented with different underglaze colours, techniques, pencils and scale to see what works best.

I took them to Arthur’s Seat to show them off in all their glory!
